We currently field a Senior Women's side, coached by Josh Whitwell, that competes in Division 3 of the Adelaide Footy League, and an Under 18 Girls side, coached by Adam Treloar, who have taken the step up from Under 16 football in 2025. (To be eligible for the Under 18 side, players must have been born on or after 1 January 2008)
We are also aiming to field a girls-only Under 8 side in 2026, to be coached by Shelly Fulton, and are strongly encouraging any players born after 1 January 2018 to come along and be part of this exciting new generation.
Between 5:00-6:00pm, the club will be running an introductory session aimed at welcoming the girls to our club, getting the chance to learn a few new skills and having a bit of fun in the process*. The session will be led by our coaches supported by players from our Senior Women and Under 18 teams.
Oh, and we are pretty excited to let you all know that a couple of former Mitcham Juniors will be coming along to help us - AFLW superstar and 2x Port Adelaide Best & Fairest, Matilda Scholz, along with former AFLW and current SANFLW player, Alex Ballard, will be in attendance to lend a hand and help tell you what being a Mitcham Hawk is all about.
Of course, girls of any age are welcome to attend this session and give football at Mitcham a try as we look to strengthen both our off-field and on-field support to growing the Women's game.
The club will be organising a sausage sizzle and juice box for afterwards, so please stick around and enjoy. Club President, Dan Hardy will speak to those attending and their parent/caregivers at the conclusion of the session and will be available should you have any questions about the program or club.
If your child, or if you know any girls or young women, who are looking for a club or an opportunity to play football, please contact football@mitchamhawks.com.au or simply come along on March 13 and start your Hawk's journey with us.
*We ask that you please only wear sandshoes/sneakers on this occasion. Please do not bring or wear football boots due to oval considerations.
